From 'Early Days in New England" Thomas and Margaret Bliss came from England to Brointree, Mass., moved to Hartford, Conn., being among earliest settlers there. Thomas was son of Thomas of Belstone Parish, Devon, England. Thomas and Margaret had 10 children (11 by another count)-- 6 in England before immigration. He died at Hartford in 1640 soon after his son John was born. Soon afterwards Mrs. Bliss moved to Springfield, Mass. Her home lot was near what is now Margaret St., named in memory of that notable, capable, and efficent woman. Note: (If Thomas died in 1640, where did Hester come from?)
