He married Elizabeth (Betsey) Craig. The earl of Granville "gave, granted, bargained, sold and confirmed" to William Blackwood in 1755, four hundred and eighty (480) acres of land on both sides of Buffalo Creek in the Parish of St. Matthew, County of Orange and Province of North Carolina.
