!Sue Porter, said Edwin's birthdate was 21 Oct. 1840. and that he was born on Main St., Grace Pannell said that the date of birthdate was 1843. Born 1840 Main street, Fredericksburg VA, brother Dorcey, sister Elizabeth Butler. need to check out morman micro file #1394255 and ditto AFN: 4V63-4M
!Doc Edwin ALLEN's diary. Vol III, page 141. In his own writting he states that he told the insurance co that his birthdate to be 21 Oct. 1843. this can not be correct, his grandmother leave him a gun in her will in Jan. 1843, this would have been 10 months prier to his birth. His death cert, it says he was 52 when he died, that would make year of birth 1840, 1860 census also supports date.
!I have death cert, marraige cert and military muster roll. Muster roll states that he deserted to the enemy 14 Dec. 1862. death cert says he was 52 at time of death, that makes birth year 1841.
!In 1960 in Fredericksburg VA he was an Officer in the "Sons of Temperance" and an agent for "The Golden Prize". Sons of Temperance wanted to close down the pubs.

All of Lancelot and Mary's children were born in Frederick County, MD which became Montgomery County, MD in1776
