You go through the door to the West. As soon as you are in the next room the door slams shut, and disappears.

The room is dark, all you can hear is the purr of a cat.

"Is this the room where we made the cat?" You ask.

"Something's not right." Nick adds. "Lights." Your fingers light up, and you see a giant cat in the middle of the room.

"It's loose!" Whispers Nick. "We've got to get out of here, it will kill us."

Without questioning him you turn to leave through the door you just came in.

          "Where is it?" You ask.

"They're gone, all the doors are gone!" David says frantically.

The room begins to shake as the great cat wakes and stretches.

"Nick, you have to get us out of here." You say.

80

"This magic is too strong for me. I don't think this will do any good." Nick says as he starts yelling out spells. The cat seems to be unaffected.

          "Use the Timestopper!" Suggests David.

You reach into your backpack and before you can get the Timestopper the cat swipes you off the ground with one great paw, and starts to bat you around like a ball of yarn. David attacks the cat with his dagger. The dagger can hardly get through the thick fur and doesn't effect the cat. Apparently annoyed by David, the cat turns towards him, hissing and yowling, the cat grabs David by the head and shakes him viciously until his head comes off. his body falls to the ground in a lifeless pile. It feels like every bone in you body is broken. Nick is still trying spells when the cat turns his attention to him. With claws barred the cat goes after Nick. He brings his massive paw down the front of Nick. Without a sound Nick falls into four slices onto the floor. You are the only one left alive. You can't move, you lie there watching as the cat eats you friends, then cleans it's self and falls asleep. You know that you are to be his next meal, but there is nothing you can do. You just lay there and wait to die.

The End!!!

81

When you enter the room you see that it is lit very well. The walls are red, blood red (of course). This room has four doors, the one you came through, one to the East, one to the South-East, and one to the South.

"Out." You say commanding you fingers to go out. And David and Nick do the same.

"Look, is that a puppy in the corner?" You ask.

"I most certainly am not!" A very aggravated voice responds. Then something no bigger than a football, seems to rise from the corner and fly towards you.

"I am a dragon, you silly little boy. And I have powers beyond your wildest imagination." The little dragon tells you.

"Jeff, look out, what's that?" Yells David.

You turn around in time to see a hobgoblins head coming up through the floor.

"They are here." It screeches. Within seconds the room was filled with hobgoblins riding mad dogs.

82

You shoot one with your cross bow and you see David is battling another with his dagger. You look for Nick, but he is not in the battle, he is just standing there shaking his head at the dragon who is yelling something at him.

          "Nick, help us!" You yell.

"I can't, I'm not powerful enough." He say.

          "The cat stuff!" Yells David.

          "I can't." Nick says.

"We will die if you don't do something." You say.

"But we could die if I use it wrong." Argues Nick.

"We will die without it, we might die with it, I'll take my chances. We trust you. Now do it!" You yell, and throw him your backpack.

Nick takes the bottle out of the backpack.

"Please let it work." Nick yells as the bottle smashes on the far wall.

The whole wall turns into a giant cat, but it is like a movie screen. The cat starts yowling and hissing, all of the dogs turn and head after the cat.

83

The dogs jump on the wall and in the mouth of the cat. The cat bites the dogs in half. Swallowing it's half and trying to reach for the remainder on the floor, but it can't come away from the wall. The cat then sit's down and starts to clean itself.

"It's like watching a regular house cat on T.V." David says.

"This is weird." You say.

"Oh, and has there been anything not weird about today?" David asks.

"No, I guess not." You laugh.

"Hey, Nick, not to bad for someone who couldn't do it." David says.

"I don't believe it myself. It's like a dream. I shouldn't be powerful enough to do that." Nick says.

"I think we have a lot of help down here." You add.

"It was the dragon." Nick says.

"Where did he go?" David asks.

84

"I don't know, but we had better find the next line and get moving." Nick says.

"There is nothing here." Says David.

"Meeow." Says the cat. "I know what the line is.

'To the Neverness you must go.'"

Which door will you take?

The room that you have just entered is so bright it is almost blinding.

"This is like looking into the sun." You say.

"Close your eyes. I can fix this." Says Nick. "Where is it? Here it is." He whispers. "Lights be off!" He commands. And with that the light disappears. "Fingers on, you can open your eyes."

"This magic stuff is really cool." You say.

"It was nothing." Nick says smiling.

"No kidding, it was nothing, look he just hit the light switch behind him." Says David laughing.

          "Great wizard, Nick." You say.

"All spells work differently, that one just needed a light switch." Nick answers.

          "Look at this." David says.

In the center of the room is a very large podium, with an even larger book on in.

"It's a spell book, and the room is filled with potions and ingredients to make the spells work." Nick tells you.

86

Looking around the room, you see many jars filled with weird looking things. Some are filled with powders, some have liquids in them and some have body parts. Parts of animals, elves, humans and some things that you can't identify.

"To call forth the greatest evil that exists," Nick reads, "you will need the following:

4           Dust of seahorse tail, seven tails.

4           Two scoops of rotten ape brains.

Essence of three brave and resourceful beings.

4           One vile of fly snot.

4           Six pounds of bat wings.

Boil all for ten days, then command the great evil to come forth."

"Hey, here is the rotted ape brains." David calls.

"Yea, all of the things but one are checked off. 'Essence of three brave and resourceful beings,' is the only one left." Nick says.

"So is that us?" You ask, knowing the answer. "I wonder how many others have tried and failed? "

         "Here's a note." Says David.

87

Nick takes the note and begins to read.

"Seven rooms have come and gone,
you have gathered wisdom and weapons,
now you are strong.
United the three of you must fight,
the Warlock must die before the night.
With the spell you have put together,
your will and our help will end this forever.
The Warlock lies in the house at it's center,
remember this when you choose the door to enter."

"Are you ready?" You ask David and Nick.

"Like we have a choice." Answers David.

There are three doors, one to the West, one to the North and one to the East. Which will you take?

If you choose the door to the West,
go to page 79.

If you choose the door to the North,
go to page 141.

If you choose the door to the East,
go to page 195.

"Here's a piece of paper, it was on the floor.

90

"It says something but I can't read it." You say, handing it to Nick.

"It's Elfin, this must have been left here by Elves that aren't completely under the Warlocks spell." Nick explains. "And it has our names on it, It says 'Jeff, David and Nick' on the cover." Nick unfolds it and reads you the rest.

"If you have made it this far, you may have a chance. Always think of all your clues when deciding which way to go. You have no second chances. We will help you when we can. You must get all six lines to the spell, and read them in order. This is the only way to kill the Warlock. There is only one way out of this room. Choose the right way or you will surly die.

Good luck, you'll need it."

There are four doors out of the room. The door you are facing is to the North. There is also one to the East, West and South. Which will you take?

With your eyes closed as tight as you can, slowly you open the trunk.

         "All right!" Says Nick.

You made the right choice. You open your eyes, and see an hourglass and a handheld crossbow. You take the crossbow. Nick picks up the hourglass.

"This looks familiar." He says. Nick turns the hourglass over.

"Look at how slow it runs." When you don't answer, Nick looks up to see what's wrong. You and David are frozen. Quickly he flips the hourglass back over.

"That's it, it's the Timestopper." Nick tells you.

         "What?" David asks.

"A Timestopper, when the person holding it turns it upside down, everything else freezes in time."

"Cool, like a giant pause button." You say.

"Hey, there's a piece of paper in here too." David says.

92

         "It's the next line,

'The Warlock will be gone by the 7th hour.'"

Nick reads.

"Put it in your back pack and let's get out of here." Says David.

There are two doors out, one to the West and the one you came through to the South.

93

You enter the kitchen of the old house.

"It doesn't look like they use this kitchen any more." You say.

"Why do you say that?" David asked.

         "No blowtorches." You answer.

Looking around the room, everything looks normal, except the floor is covered with small bones.

"What are these bones from?" David asked.

"They look like mice or rats. They must have gotten trapped in here and starved to death." You answer.

"With all these cabinets, we will never find the clue." Nick says, as he starts opening the cabinets.

"Ouch! What was that?" Yells David.

"What's wrong? Ahhh! Something bit me." You say.

"Look, they are tiny people. And they are trying to eat us." Says David as he stomps one and squashes it like a bug.

94

"Well at least we can kill them easy enough. There are only a few, so we can just squash them, or climb up on the cabinets." You say squashing away.

"They are 'Pygmy Piranha people', and there are never just a few." Nick starts to explain.

"Whoa!" You yell when you see that the entire floor and the cabinets are covered with them. They are chewing through you pants, and they are all over you.

"How are we supposed to kill these?" David asks.

"I don't know." You answer, swatting one off of your ear.

"Oh, gross!" Yells David. "Your ear, it fell off with the Pygmy."

The pain is intense, as you turn to run back out the door, you left leg falls to the floor and is completely eaten within seconds. Before you even have time to scream, the three of you are just another pile of bones on the floor.

The End!!!

95

You open the door and walk into another dark room, your fingers light up the room fairly well, but they don't light up the edges of the room.

"What's that?" You ask, you hear it again, it sounds like someone or something moaning.

"Shhh, it sounds like more than one." Cautions David.

Weapons drawn, the three of you slowly walk towards one of the walls. You see the reflection of something on the wall, and you jump back.

"It looks like a trophy, like a mounted deer's head." Nick tells you. You all go closer to get a better look.

"Gross, it is a trophy, but they are from elves and this one is ....." You stop, you can't believe your eyes, "it's, it's a person!" You almost scream. You try to turn your eyes away, but for some reason you can't.

"It moved, it moved! I swear I saw it move." You say.

"Help me, you must help us." It was the head, it was talking to you.

96

"Did you hear that?" You ask, turning to see David and Nick looking at the other walls.

"This wall is filled with legs, and they are moving." Says David.

"And this one has all arms." Says Nick.

"Ick, that means the rest of the body must be on this wall." David says, moving close enough to light up the wall. The wall is filled with torsos.

         "Help us." It begged again.

One of the hands motioned for Nick to come to it. Nick went closer. The hand pointed to a small box on the floor.

"The elves left this for us?" Nick asked.

"Yes." Answered the bodiless head from across the room.

Nick opens the box. Inside is a potion marked 'Essence of Cat'.

"'Essence of Cat', I wonder what this is for?" mumbles Nick.

"What did you say?" Asks David.

97

"The bottle says 'Essence of Cat'. Here there is a piece of paper in here also." Nick hands you the paper still staring at the potion.

You open the paper and look at it.

Before the setting of the sun,
these few things must be done.
The monsters, trolls and hobgoblins
must be beaten.
You must survive the dungeons,
and not be eaten.
The house level is to gather
lines and power.
You must say the spell
before the 7th hour.

Keep track of the lines to the spell.
Put them all in order, and all will be well.

Line #3 'Our courage and strength has brought us here.'

98

"I can't read this. Nick is something wrong, you are acting weird. Well, weirder than before. What's wrong with the cat potion?" You ask.

"It's not a potion, it is essence." Nick tries to explain.

"Whatever." Says David. "What's the big deal?"

"That means everything that is 'cat' is in here. Only a Magic User of great powers could do this. And only a Magic User of great powers should use it. I don't think I have the powers to use it." Nick explains.

"Then let's hope that we don't need it." You say handing the note back to Nick. "I still don't know how to read Elfin."

"Before the setting of the sun,

99

The heads start to moan very loud, like they were in pain.

         "What's wrong?" You ask.

"Run, quickly. He is coming. Can't you feel the pain? The closer he gets, the more it hurts. Ahhh." The heads scream.

There are three doors. The one that you came through to the East, and...

a door to the West. Page 145

a door to the South. Page 133

The heads are screaming so loud you can't hear each other. Their hands and feet are pounding on the wall. There is blood and pus oozing out from around their mountings. Quickly you make a decision and run through the door.

Congratulations!

You've made it to the house! The three of you have made it through the worst of it, or have you???

The house has 7 rooms. Each room may have a weapon and some kind of supplies that will be needed to get you through the rest of the house. To kill the Warlock you will need to cast a spell to send him to the Neverness. There will be parts of the spell in each room. You must keep track of the spell, without the spell in the proper order it will not work and the Warlock will kill you. The rooms are color coded so you can make a map as you go to keep track of where you have been. Or to help you next time, just in case you loose your way and die. The small stairway in the center of the house is the only way to get to the Warlock. Be sure you have everything from the house, or you will certainly die.

*Remember what Wedom said. His hint will surely save your lives.

"Off!" Commands Nick, and with that all lit fingers went out.

You are standing in a room with blue walls. There's a door to the North, a door the West and a door to the South-West. There is no ceiling, the walls seem to go up forever. The room is also very bright, even though there are no lamps. There is a table in the center of the room. It has a small bottle of liquid, and a dagger. You try to read the bottle, it says "bat repellent".

"Oh, this is great, we have our first potion and we can't read it." You say.

"It's 'Bat repellent'. Can't you read Elfin? This must have been left here by Elves that aren't completely under the Warlocks spell." Nick explains.

"Here's a piece of paper, it was on the floor. It has more of that Elfin writing on it." Says David handing it to Nick.

"It has our names on it, It says 'Jeff, David and Nick' on the cover." Nick unfolds it and reads you the rest.

"Let's put the paper and the potion in my backpack." You suggest.

"Okay, let's go." Says David, grabbing the dagger.

Nick reads the note out loud.

"You have chosen wisely. As long as you continue to go the opposite way of the clock you will have a chance of defeating the Warlock. This is the first line of the spell. Do not say the spell in the wrong order, or you will die!
